framed to correspond with the other portraits of the Royal family already sent to the Colony.
It is desirable of course, if Your Lordship will kindly have it done, that His Royal Highness should be consulted as to the Portrait he may wish a Copy of which he sent out. Being already personally acquainted with the hall of Government House, where it is to be put, and having seen the portraits of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales with which it is to correspond, His Royal Highness will no doubt be better able than anyone else to indicate the Portrait most suitable to be copied.
I regret the delay, which appears to have occurred in transmitting this requisition, and in 1870 I left a sum on the Estimates for that purpose, and a similar sum was again voted for the same purpose by the Council in the current year; but no action appears to have been hitherto taken for securing the object of those votes. Therefore, it seems desirable that further delay should be avoided.
